The Color Box

This book is about Alexander who goes into a box and in the box there are lots of colors and lots of holes. Alexander is a monkey. On every page there is only one color. On each page there is an opening color. He goes through the hole. The book has poetry. For instance, "Yellow daisies, yellow bees, yellow bananas up in trees." Read the book to find out the ending.

We like the book because we like colors and it reminds us about when we first went to the zoo. We like the shapes in the book because we like shapes. We like Alexander because he?s a good main character. We really like the illustrations a lot. The illustrator used different shades of the same color on each page. We also like the author?s writing. The author repeats some of the same writing. For example, "Yellow, yellow, everywhere-everywhere he looked. But then he looked again." "Orange, orange, everywhere-everywhere he looked. But then he looked again." "Blue, blue, everywhere-everywhere he looked. But then he looked again." We felt like we were in the book.

We recommend this book to people who like animals. We also recommend this book to people who like surprise endings and people who like clues. We recommend this book to toddlers to third graders.
