Sam the Minuteman

If you like learning about war, then this is the right book for you. In Sam the Minuteman, Sam and his father are going somewhere and they saw the soldiers. Sam was afraid. Sam learned that his friend, John, got shot in the leg. Sam was nervous this would happen to him, too. Did Sam overcome his fear of war so he could help his country? Read the book to find out.

My favorite part of the book is when Sam’s friend John almost died because he got shot in the leg. This is my favorite part because I was sad when it happened. I felt bad for both Sam and john. In the book Sam’s mom is always worried about him. This reminds me about my life because my grandmother is always worried about me. I always tell her, “Don’t worry, I got this!” I was sad when I saw 8 Minuteman die. Sam and his father were so sad, too.

I think other kids should read this book because if one day they want to be in the Army then they can learn about it a little through this book. There is a lot of action in this book. Kids in grades first and second grade would enjoy this book.
