This story is about a young couple that goes to California to strike it rich. It was exciting when the rattlesnakes came to visit. This book had danger, especially when they used traps made of iron.
I liked this book because it was about the gold rush. I liked the part when Jesse went to slug Gulch. I think it is unique because it gives the reader a first person view of the gold rush. My favorite character is red whiskers for his method of mining.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes the history of the gold rush. I suggest that 4th and up will like this book.
