The book A Stranger Came Ashore by Mollie Hunter is about a man named Finn Learson who suddenly appeared at the Henderson?s house. He is supposedly the only survivor of a shipwreck. The Henderson family allows Finn to stay with them. They do not realize that they are bringing danger into their home. Young Robbie and Old Da the only two that feel Finn is dangerous, after seeing the way that he charms Tam the family dog. Robbie?s sister Elspeth decides she wants to marry Finn Learson instead of her fianc?, Nichol Anderson. One day Da got very sick His last words to Robbie before he died were ?Watch out for Finn Learson. Don?t trust him.? Robbie finds out the truth about Finn and knows he has to save his family.
I recommend this book very strongly. My favorite part of this book was when Robbie and Yarl Corbbie the wizard were planning to prove that Finn Learson was the great selkie. Robbie changed a lot throughout the book. He went from a normal boy to hunting the great selkie seal. I thought that the book was suspenseful and interesting. I liked it because I like waiting to see what will happen next. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a gripping mystery.
