Little House on the Prairie

It's really fun to read about this family of five settlers: Ma and Pa, the two parents; Mary, the oldest daughter; Carrie, the youngest; and Laura, the middle child. They have huge adventures moving to the prairie. On the way, they met some Indians. The Indians cause some trouble for them as they try to move over the land. Mary and Laura have a lot of fun out on the prairie. They find a lot of things and animals like rabbits and prairie dogs and Indian beads. They also get in trouble sometimes too. They have to survive a cold winter along the way. They don't have stores right next to them. They're living in the middle of the prairie. How do they survive this? Read the book to find out.

I liked this book because it's fun to read about how people did things in the olden days. I liked reading about things they did when they got in trouble. There are a couple of parts that are sad, but they always turn out to be happy. For an example when they were crossing a river and they forgot about the dog and they left their dog behind. A couple of days later their dog crosses the river and finds them.

My favorite part is one of those sad, then happy, parts. Their dad goes down to the river with his horse. Wolves surround them both. But then the horse takes off as fast as she can back toward their house, and they both are safe. It really got me thinking the horse was going to die.

I found Laura very interesting. She's kind of wild and curious. She always forgets to use her manners, unlike her sister Mary. Their family reminds me of my family. Whenever our dog is lost our family worries, but we believe in him and hope he comes back, and he does always come back.

The illustrations are very good and describe very well what the character is doing or looks like. This book is a part of a series. I like how the author writes about them getting older and going to school, and how there's one more child added to the family.

I would recommend this book to people who like reading historical fiction. In this book you can't wait to tell what's coming next. It is very exciting. I would also recommend this book to people who like adventures, animals and a good book.
