This story is about a boy named Digory and a girl named Polly. They become friends and start exploring through their houses. Digory's uncle tricks the two children into touching these magical rings. They meet a witch that brings them to their troubles. The two children find their exciting adventures throughout many worlds while trying to get away from the witch, Jadis. The children need to get home. Digory's mother is very ill and needs Digory. Will the children get back home? Will Digory's mother get better? Read the book to find out.
This book is part of a series. The series has seven books. I have read four of those books and the book that is most similar to this book is The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. It is similar because in both books there are kids that go on adventures in magical worlds. Also, in each book there are bad guys and good guys.
There are a couple of illustrations in this book. One of the illustrations is very helpful. The illustration showed an unknown woman behind a tree. It is very hard to see her behind the tree. The illustrations show you what's going on so you don't always have to picture it.
All the characters were a different kind of person. My favorite characters were Digory and Polly because they loved to find new places and new creatures. They were very out-going and liked to help out. That is why Digory and Polly are my favorite characters.
This book made me feel like I wish it would never end. At the conclusion of the book I wanted to find out what happened next. After reading this book I wanted to read the book that follows it.
I would recommend this book because I enjoyed reading it and after every chapter it leaves you hanging. I think people who have a very good imagination and like magic would like to read The Magician's Nephew.
