This story is about a boy, Tom [age 10] and his sister Lucy [age 8], who are living with their family in the walls of a house owned by George Biggs. And one thing you need to know is that the Littles were tiny?the tallest was only six inches! One day they were on the roof when Cousin Dinky zoomed by and dropped a letter for the family, but it fell down Mr. Biggs? chimney. So Tom and Lucy climbed down to get the letter. When Tom was reading the letter a brick on the chimney fell, and they saw mysterious papers and maps. They told their parents and were off on a great adventure!
I loved this story because it is fully of action and laughs. For example, Tom and his family are attacked by rats, and they are forced to fight them off. One funny part of the story is the family?s uncle. He?s always acting like a clown.
My favorite character is Tom. I thought Tom was very brave, especially when he had to fight the rats. He?s also really clever. One time he dressed like a mouse and ran around so the new owners of his house would spray for rodents and get rid of the rats who threatened the family.
My favorite part of the book was when Tom found the opening in the brick. If the letter hadn?t fallen into the chimney, he never would have found this treasure. He finds out the letters and map were his grandfather?s.
John Peterson has written many stories about the Littles. In all the books, the family has adventures. In a few of the Littles books, the family gets into trouble. The Littles Go Exploring is my favorite of the series because in this book, you get to meet Tom?s grandfather.
I recommend this book for people who like adventure. The story is interesting and fun. People who have read other Littles books will like this one. Join the Littles for a great adventure!
