The Giver

The main character in The Giver is Jonas. He grows up in a community in the future. In his community, there are age groups one through twelve. At age twelve they get assigned a job. Jonas' job is the receiver, which is someone who receives memories from the Giver. The Giver is an old man who has memories of the past and makes sure the community doesn't loose them. When Jonas received these memories he saw things he liked and he didn't like. Jonas could also see color that is a cool gift that only the receiver of memories can do. After awhile Jonas wanted to leave the community because he has memories of grand parents and happiness and snow and heat and he wanted to experience them. Read the book to see what Jonas learns and does.
My favorite part of the book took was when Jonas got his job because it is a cliff hanger. But if I was Jonas I would hate to live in his world because there are no emotions, not even pain. If I was the author I would have added a better ending because I wanted to know what happened to Jonas. This book is similar to Harry potter because they are both about fantasies.
I would recommend this book to people who like stories about the future. I would recommend this book to mostly kids because it is sort of a fantasy. I really liked The Giver because it was intriguing and not boring and there were always surprises. I would read this book if I was you!
