The Secret Soldier

Deborah Sampson grew up during the war for American Independence. During that time, they expected young girls to get ready for marriage then settle down. Deborah did not choose that, she wanted to have adventures. So secretly she snuck into the army. You will be amazed how she does it and what wild adventures she will have!

The Secret Soldier is a tearjerker story. I really enjoyed this book because I sometimes like sad stories and it was a challenging book. My favorite part was when she helped a hurt soldier because she left the group and stayed at a cruel Tory's house. The Tory was mean because he still wanted England to rule them. As I read the book I was about to cry because of the terrifying chapters that seemed like they would never end.

I recommend this book to everyone who likes tearful stories and who likes to challenge themselves. The writing style is wonderful because of the descriptions.
