In the story "Tornado Alert" Franklyn M. Branley teaches children how to be safe when a tornado comes. Hot air forms into a funnel. A funnel can destroy everything in its way. A funnel turns into a tornado. The wind speed around the funnel of the tornado may reach 300 miles an hour. One of the illustrations of the tornados looks like the bottom is sharp and the other one looks like the bottom has dirt scattering around.
I already knew about tornados because I remember I read a Scholastic News in second grade. I read that tornados occur in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and Missouri. In school we have shelter drills where we follow directions, cover our heads, and stay away from glass. Some tornado rules are: Don't panic, Listen, Look, and Follow directions like we do in school.
I will recommend this book because it teaches kids all about tornado rules, it was fun to read, and the illustrations of the tornados looked very cool.
