The Face on the Milk Carton is about a girl named Janie Johnson. Janie is a 16 year old girl who lives with her parents, Frank and Miranda Johnson. One day Janie has a peanut butter sandwich for lunch. She takes her friends milk and drinks it even though she is allergic to it. Then she saw the little girl on the milk carton. Not only does Janie take it, she thinks it?s her. She?s right! She can?t believe her parents kidnapped her, but they did not. So then who did? Is Janie who she thinks she is? Read this book, and then read the sequel What Ever happened to Janie, also by Caroline B. Cooney.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It made me think about how Janie would react when she found her real parents. Or how her real parents would react if they haven?t seen their daughter for the first time in 12 years. My favorite part of the book is when Janie goes up to the attic and finds Hannah?s stuff. Hannah is the woman who kidnapped her. And Hannah?s real parents are Janie?s supposed grandparents. But Janie does not know that.
This book is not like any other book I?ve read because I?ve never read a book about kidnapping before, it was interesting. I admire Caroline B. Cooney?s writing style because she put so much detail into this book. I felt like I was there. This book is part of a series.
I recommend this book because it will make you grateful for your family. This book should be for 4th grade and above because I had to use a dictionary to understand some of the words.
