How Chipmunk Got His Stripes

One autumn day Bear walked in the woods and he began to brag. He said that he was the BEST. He said he could do anything. A squirrel came and said, "Can you make the sun not rise tomorrow?" Bear and squirrel sat all night. When it was time for the sun to come up, it did. Bear was mad that he lost. Squirrel teased bear and Bear's paw came down on him. Squirrel said, "Take your paw off me and I will say I am sorry." Bear took his paw off and squirrel ran back to his hole. Bear scratched his back and squirrel was now a chipmunk.

Matthew and Savan liked this book because it taught a lesson about not to brag about something you really can't do. Matthew's favorite part was the time when Bear scratched squirrel and made him into a chipmunk. Savan's favorite part was when the rabbits, deer, moose, eagles and other animals came to watch who was going to be right - Bear or Squirrel.

The illustrations are great. The sky has a lot of different colors in it when the sun sets. All the other pictures are very colorful.

We recommend this book to people who like to brag because it would teach them a lesson. We also think it would be good for people who like animals. We think this book is for first grade through third grade because it has marvelous words in it.
