Have you ever eaten chicken soup with rice? This book of poems, Chicken Soup With Rice, is about a boy who LOVES chicken soup with rice. There is a poem for each month of the year. In each poem the lines, "chicken soup with rice" and "once and twice", repeat.
The book, Chicken Soup With Rice, is extremely funny. The poems rhyme. Every month the boy eats chicken soup with rice. Each month is GREAT. Everybody can find their birthday in this book! My favorite poem is March because it is my birthday. The book of poems can teach the names of the months to children. This book reminds me of the story Tikki Tikki Tembo because of the repetition.
I recommend this book to whoever likes poems or months or chicken soup with rice! This book also has been made into a song by Carole King. It is on her album, Really Rosie. I enjoyed singing it with my friends and I think you will too. I really like the part when she sang, "I told you once. I told you twice. All seasons of the year are nice for eating chicken soup with rice." It makes me hungry! I think it will make you hungry too!
