Melvin Beederman Superhero the Revenge of the McNasty Brothers

You are going to be thrilled by this book! Melvin is the main character and he is not your typical superhero. Melvin loves root beer, cartoons, especially “The Adventures of Thunderman”, and being a superhero himself! Even though he is a superhero, it does not mean he is invincible. Melvin Beederman has a weakness! His weakness is bologna! When he gets near it, his strength decreases. Candace Brinkwater is Melvin’s assistant. She can fly just like Melvin! Two bullies challenge Candace to a basketball game. Despite leaving her superhero cape at home, she defeats them by 96 points. Candace is a bit of a showoff. Melvin has another helper. His new pet, Hugo. Hugo is a rat and a very good pet. The McNasty Brothers are Melvin’s enemies. They are in jail because of something they did in the first book. In this book, the McNasty Sisters help the brothers break out of jail and they plot their revenge against Melvin and Candace! The McNasty siblings hatch an evil plan involving 6,000 pounds of bologna, a bomb, and high speed chases. Will the Superheroes save the day or will the McNasty siblings win? You will have to read this exciting book to find out!

I like this book because they make it very interesting by adding special details and unexpected twists to the story. They also have some great pictures.

I recommend this book to 3rd to 5th graders because there is a lot of adventure and action. I also think there are so many twists and turns it is harder for younger kids to understand. If I were to give another recommendation it would be to read the books in order because it probably took me a little longer to figure the entire plot. There are eight books in the Melvin Beederman series. I enjoyed this second book and am going to read them all. I hope you do the same!
