Melvin Beederman Superhero the Revenge of the McNasty Brothers

If you are the person who likes funny superhero books then try Melvin Beederman: The Revenge of the McNasty Brothers by Greg Trine, Illustrations by Rhode Montijo. In the beginning Melvin Beederman is in his treehouse eating pretzels and watching T.V. The reason Melvin was taking it so easy was because The McNasty Brothers were in prison. Meanwhile the McNasty Sisters were tunneling under the prison, shovels in their hands, and flashlights strapped to their heads. Grunge and Filthy McNasty are chanting, “I hate Beederman, yes I do. I hate Beederman How about you?” Grunge was chanting from the west side and Filthy was chanting on the east side. Then the whole west side and east side were chanting “I hate Beederman, yes I do. I hate Beederman how about you?” Even though most of the People didn't know who Beederman was. Soon the McNasty Sisters were under Grunge McNastys cell. He was chanting, “I hate Beederman, yes I do. I hate Beederman how about ---” Crash! The McNasty sisters tunnelled into the cell and Grunge fell into the hole. Grunge got mad because he hates it when he gets stopped mid sentence. They broke Filthy out and plotted their revenge. Read this book to find out if they cause chaos.

I like this book because it's funny. I thought an example of the book being really funny was because Melvin’s weakness is bologna. Another example of the book being funny is when Candace Brinkwater, Melvins sidekick, had half of Melvins cape that gave whoever wore it superpowers, and then she challenged the bullies to a game of basketball. If the bullies won, Candace had to leave the cape at home. If she left her cape at home, everybody would get bullied. When the bullies were losing 98 to 2 they both dove at her from opposite sides of the court and Candace moved. They ended up hugging in the middle of the court. Those are examples of why I think this book is funny.

When I started reading this book, I liked it! I give this book eight out of ten because it didn’t have a lot of details, but it had more details then no details. An example of me wanting more details is in chapter 11 when the author could have added more details on when they dog piled on Candace. I recommend this book to 1st through 3rd graders.
