Do you like sailing and weapons? Well, then you are going to like Treasure Island. The main characters are Long John Silver, Jim Hawkins and the Doctor. They all went on the trip of Treasure Island. In the beginning, Jim Hawkins and his Mother own a hotel. The next day a captain walks in and starts singing. He sings:
Fifteen men on a dead Man’s chest...yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum.
Sadly the captain gets a stroke. Then the Doctor comes and tries to help but the captain passes away. Before he dies he tells Jim Hawkins that there is a treasure chest hidden on an island and tons of gold inside. He also tells him that there is special information hidden on THIS island that tells where the treasure chest is hidden. BUT - Beware of Black Dog! It’s practically a matter of life or death one wrong move and you’re dead.
I totally enjoyed this book. It is a classic story and it is one of the best I’ve read. My favorite part is when Jim Hawkins tries to get home on a really tiny boat. But finds special information. This is such and adventurous story that I would like to happen to me - but only the good stuff like find the gold and not the bad stuff like being close to near death and strangers. It seems scary, but it’s all fake.
I recommend this book to ages 2nd-6th grade. And I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I found it hard to put down and was reading two different versions of it because they were both so good!
