Otherwise Known As Sheila The Great

Do you like books about funny characters? Cause Sheila is a girl that is almost afraid of everything, even tiny things, but she never tells anyone what she is afraid of. She is afraid of spiders and swimming. And if you drink water all the time, why would you be afraid of it? She lies about herself to impress her friend Mouse. Sheila has swim lessons for the rest of the summer. Her teacher’s name is Marty. Sheila is scared of the water. She doesn’t even want to dunk her head in the water. Sheila hates her swim lessons so much that she never wants to go to them. But Sheila’s sister Libby thinks Marty is so hot that she wants to be in them. After the summer she is going back home and into fifth grade. Will Sheila ever learn how to swim? You will have to read this book to find out.

As I read this book, I felt astonished because I didn’t know what lie Sheila was going to say. I think the characters are funny especially Sheila because you never know what hilarious lie she is going to say. One of Sheila’s lies is that she thinks she can be the best swimmer but really she can barely do the dog paddle. I like this book because all the characters are so friendly and nice. My favorite part is when Sheila thinks she can be the best swimmer when she can barely do the dog paddle. This book reminds me of Pippi Longstocking because Sheila and Pippi both act like they know it all but they don’t.

I recommend this book to kids 7 and older because they will understand it more. If you like books about funny characters then this is the book for you. I think the characters are funny especially Sheila because she is scared of tiny things. I think you will find Sheila’s lies interesting.
