Maxi, The Hero

The story was about a taxi man named Jim and his dog Maxi. They were driving down the street to the pier. Then two sailors wanted to go uptown to the Hotel Crown. Maxi never saw real sailors before. When they drove up the street there was a parade passing by. Jim headed to Joe's frankfurter place. Jim always buys three frankfurters. Jim buys two for him and one for Maxi. Then a chef who was late for a wedding jumped in the cab and said he was headed across town. Then three more men came in the cab. They had the same face mask. When Jim dropped them off one of the men stole a woman's purse. Maxi caught the thief. Maxi was a hero!

My favorite part of the story was that Maxi caught the thief. I think the pictures were very colorful, for example red, blue, and purple. The unique thing about the story is that it is a dog being a hero, and the other stories I have read was not about a dog being a hero. The lesson I learned is that sometimes when you're a hero you can make a lot of friends. The story reminds me of a pillow my grandmother and I made. My favorite character is Maxi because he was a hero.

I think people should read this book because kids might get ideas how to help others like Maxi did. The kind of reader that would like to read this book is a person who has problems helping someone else.
