Space

Space Welcome! I am DaShawn and I am 8 years old and in the third grade. Space is a place we call the Solar System. The Solar System is made of the sun, planets, moons, asteroids, comets and meteoroids.

Planets: Planets are the largest members of our solar system besides the sun. Some planets are rocky and solid like the Earth. Others are big balls of gas. Planets travel around the sun at different speeds. One trip around the sun is a planet year. Planets also rotate as they travel around the sun.

Moons: Many planets have moons. Moons are chunks of rocks that travel with a planet in space. Moon orbit a planet as the planet orbits the sun. The gravity of a planet holds its moon in their orbits.

Comets: Comets are balls of ice and space dust. Most comets orbit in very distant regions of space. Only a few ever travel close enough to Earth to be seen without telescopes.

I think people should read this book because it’s fun, interesting and people can learn some things. I like this nonfiction book because I learned a lot about space! My favorite part of the book was when I read about the sun because I learned a lot of things about it like the core (the middle of the sun). What I like best about the book is that it is non-fiction and I like non-fiction books. This book reminds me of the book, Solar System because they are both non-fiction books and they both are about the solar system. This book made me think about being an astronaut when I grow up.
