Fang, the Dentist

Written by Mike Thaler

Reviewed by KC H (age 7) & Alicia T. (age 6)

This book is about a boy named Snarvey Grooper. He is afraid to go to the dentist. He thinks the dentist is a scary guy named Dr. Fang. His family trys to tell him good things the dentist did for them. His aunt says she had a bridge put in, and his uncle said he capped his teeth. Snarvey thinks that the dentist is crazy. He thinks he put little hats on all of his uncles teeth, and that he put a whole bridge in his aunt's mouth. After all that he is more afraid to go to the dentist. When Snarvey finally gets to the dentist he finds out that it isn't scary at all. At the end he gets a prize, and he can't wait to go back.

We liked this book because we used to be scared of the dentist too. Mostly we liked the crazy ideas that Snarvey got when he didn't know what capped teeth, or a bridge were. The pictures were really hilarious! Alicia's favorite picture was when a real bridge was going in the lady's mouth. KC's favorite part was the picture of the dentist putting a giant drill into the man's mouth.

Anyone that likes the dentist will think this book is funny. Kids that are afraid of the dentist might think that the dentist can be nice, and really isn't scary.
