When a girl and her mom returned home from shopping for shoes, they discovered their house caught on fire. There were flames all over the house. Because the family had lost everything, their next door neighbors bring them different things. A Chair For My Mother is about a little girl who works at a shop to get some money. She raised the money to buy her mom a chair. The little girl and her grandma went to the bank and deposit their money for a chair for the little girl’s mother. They went to the furniture store and get a chair for her mother. Her grandma wanted a different hair but they got a chair that had flowers on it. The little girl and her grandma counted their money and paid for the chair.
The part I liked was when the little girl bought her mom a chair because that is so nice. I like the part where they get their neighbors to give them stuff. That’s also very nice for people to do. I really enjoyed this book because the pictures were colorful and helped me see the story in my mind. This was one of the best books I have read because the words were easy to read and understand. Well, at least, most of them. . I also like the part I like about this book too is where her grandma and mom get to live in a nice apartment. This book is all about the importance of family and helping each other.
I think 3rd and 4th graders will enjoy reading this book. Moms and dads you will enjoy reading this book with your children. This AR level is a 3.4 if you are that level you can read this book for fun. I think when you take a test on it you will get a 100% on it!
