Madeline's Rescue

"In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines lived twelve little girls in two straight lines. The smallest one was Madeline." This story is about Madeline slipping off a bridge into the water and the dog who saves her. The girls take the dog home and name her Genevieve. The girls fall deeply in love with Genevieve and plan to keep her. We will not tell you any more, you have to find out yourself.

We like the way the author rhymes the words in the story. The pictures are wonderful. Ludwig Bemelmans uses details in his artwork. He also colors his pictures in yellow, black, and white most of the time. Overall the illustrations are beautiful. The author uses his imagination a lot.

We recommend this book to people who like Paris or want to learn about Paris.
