Salt In His Shoes

Would you like to know what National Basketball players were like when they were kids? Then you need to read this book. Michael goes to the park with his brothers to play basketball every Saturday. Michael meets a bully named Mark. He is the biggest boy out there and Michael's team loses the game. Michael becomes discouraged and thinks if only he was taller his team could win.

Michael reminds me of one of my friends because he is short too and has trouble playing basketball. My favorite part is when he practices and keeps on practicing. I learned that is what you need to do to get better.

The illustrator uses lots of warm browns and oranges in the pictures. I think this makes me feel warm inside. You might like the way the artist draws the pictures tall and skinny.

I recommend this book for those who like to play basketball and maybe aren't that good and are in second through fourth grades.
