I think the book was nice and I liked it because it taught a good lesson: don't judge people by color or religion.
This book is like the 'Diary of Anne Frank' because the same thing happened to her but she died. I felt sad because they had to go through all those hardships. They were slaves. They had nothing to eat. They came out looking like skeletons.
I liked Anne Marie because she was caring and she was very helpful. I recommend this book because it reminds me of friendship and it tells about what good friends are for.
