Mandie is from Franklin, N.C. and is in Europe with her grandmother, her friend Celia, and a stowaway named Jonathan. They are in Rome, Italy sightseeing a catacomb. Mandie, Celia, and Jonathan get lost in the catacomb because they were looking for Mandie?s stolen bag. Someone was blowing out candles in the catacombs and they met many interesting people. One of the interesting people is a burglar who has stolen many rubies from various parts of Europe. Who would they find out to be doing all of these bad things?

This is book 16 in a 42 book series by Lois Gladys Leppard. The books in the series are all mysteries. I think you would enjoy reading these books because Mandie always gets into trouble and learns interesting things.

My favorite part of this book is when Mandie catches the burglar. Mandie heard a man talking and she wondered if he was doing all the bad things. You will have to read to find out.

I like this book because you learn things about the world and many interesting things happen. Each book in the series connects to the other like a puzzle. I like mysteries.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mysteries because it has an exciting plot and interesting characters.
