Mattimeo

Have you ever wondered what the life of an animal is like? You don't have to after reading this book! The life of an animal is often hard and cruel, as you will soon find out! Mattimeo is about the peacful creatures of Redwall, peacful until the youngsters of Redwall are kidnapped. The son of Matthias, Mattimeo, was one of them. Slagar the Cruel is the one responsible for the mishap of the children. To make things worse, General Ironbeak, his rooks, his seer, and his magpies try and take over the Abbey. On top of everything else, instead of being just kidnapped, the poor slaves must work for the evil host of Malkariss, Nadaz. The search for the children is rough and arduous. Do the Redwallers make the rescue, or perish in the misty ravine?

My favorite characters are Foremole and Mattimeo. I like Foremole because of the mole dialect he speaks, and because most everything he says is really funny. I like Mattimeo mainly because his attitude towards things is always positive, even if everyone else's opinion was on the dark side. My favorite part was when the search party finds Malkariss and a big fight breaks out. I like this part because it's descriptive and it makes you feel like you're in the middle of the battle. Brian Jacques has used these characters and many others in his other books in the Redwall Series. Some other books in the series that I really enjoyed are The Long Patrol, Redwall, Martin the Warrior, Matthias, Mossflower, and The Pearls of Lutra.

If you like adrenaline, this book is for you. The action alone makes Mattimeo a white knuckle adventure. I would recommend this book to people who are fans of adventure and are in fifth grade and up.
