My favorite part of the story is when the school has a talent show, and one of the Herdmans dares Eugene Preston to crush walnuts against his forehead!! Imogene Herdman was the one who thought of the idea of putting butter on Howard's head, after he got it stuck in between the bike rack poles. Of all the Herdmans, she is the only one who seems to change in the story by showing how she can be nice. This book is unique because it's unlike any other book I've read. It's different because not many books have characters that will take their cat to the laundry mat to get it washed, have children that smoke cigars, burn down buildings, and swear. The Best School Year Ever is a great book that most readers will enjoy, even adults. While I was reading the book, I really laughed because some of the things the characers did were really funny.
I recommend this book to people that enjoy reading books about chldren who do funny and unusual things. I especially think someone who is a bully might like reading this book too because the Herdmans were bullies to people who weren't like them.
