The story unfolds by the author introducing each pet and what they do in their classrooms. Twitch the squirrel, a hamster, Miss Lucy the rabbit, Sweetie the rat, neon tetra fish, Lenore the parrot, Nancy the turtle, Angel the corn snake, and science lab geckoes. Chaos erupts in the school when the dog Cuddles chases Twitch inside. All of the classrooms get a visit from Twitch and Cuddles chasing behind him. Unfortunately some of their cages get knocked over! Each classroom has a new adventure for Twitch as he tries to find his way back out.
My favorite part of the story was the rabbit saying he leaves little poops so the children can find him. This made me laugh! I enjoyed reading this book because it had surprises. I was surprised to see at the end there was a special art show, but the animals’ adventures make a few changes to it. The illustrator for this book, Steve Bjorkman made the illustrations very simple. They were all very nice black and white pictures. These helped me picture the story as I was reading.
In conclusion, I would recommend this book for 7 and up. It is a fun Florida Sunshine State Reader for 2015!
