Because of Winn-Dixie

One day India Opal Baloghni‘s dad told her to get certain things from the grocery store Winn- Dixie. But when she got in the produce department, she saw the store manager’s face all red, and he was waving his arms really hard in the air because someone had let a dog into the store. Opal said the dog was her’s – even though it was not- and took it home. She named the dog Winn- Dixie. Together Opal and Winn- Dixie had lots of adventures, including one at a store called Gertrude’s Pets with Otis; at the library with Franny Blok; and at a party with Gloria Dump.

Because of Winn-Dixie is a good book because it has lots of adventures that are really cool. My favorite part was when Opal passed out the invitations to the party that she and Gloria Dump hosted. I liked the character Opal because she has a kind and a loving heart. I felt kind of sad and happy when I read the book. I felt sad when it told about the mom leaving, but I felt happy about the mom being in the world somewhere.

I would recommend this book because it was very thoughtful. I think Bailey would like this book. I think she would like it because she has lost someone just like the character Opal has. I think she would like the part when Opal invites people to the party at Gloria Dump’s house even that she doesn’t like.
