The Box Jellyfish

If you are afraid of jellyfish that sting, you should read The Box Jellyfish by Colleen Sexton.

To begin with, this book is about jellyfish that sting you and can poison you. These stings can even create scars! But if you afraid of jellyfish, you can read this book and you will learn so much about them that you might not be scared anymore. I learned that the Box Jellyfish is also called a sea wasp. It has many tentacles and each of those tentacles has over 5,000 stinging cells! The poison in one Box Jellyfish has enough poison to kill more than 60 people. It is a very scary animal.

In addition, I remember a time I got stung by a jellyfish at the beach. It felt very funny. This book reminded me of that time. This book also made me feel scared. I felt like this because of the poison in the jellyfish. My favorite part of the book was learning about the facts about the jellyfish, especially that they live far away in the Philippines. Now I know I won’t get stung by one!

In conclusion, The Box Jellyfish should be read by kids who are 8-11 years old. Go find this book at your school right away!
